Camera Bag

The Jackrabbit

Quick | Secure | Durable

How This Started

In the summer of 2024 I was on a hike when a hawk flew by.

I started to get out my camera to take a picture, but before I could even set my bag down the hawk was gone.

For the rest of the hike, I thought about ways I could more quickly access my camera.

The Problem

Cameras are usually carried in a backpack, and accessing that camera is slow and tedious.

The Question

How can I make a bag that allows photographers to access their camera quickly while still keeping their camera secure?

"We do a lot of run-and-gun and we need the gear to keep up and we need it to be easy for us to be in and out of the bag quickly and frequently".

Photographer and writer in the outdoor industry

"If I'm moving around and know I need the camera easily accessible then I have a hand strap on my camera that allows me to weightlessly carry it or attach it to my backpack shoulder strap via a clip".

Ideation

To kickstart my imagination I used Vizcom to explore different shapes and forms before sketching.

After finding an appropriate form, I quickly moved into the details of the bag.

What's Next?

To continue this project I would rework the side bag to fit the side of the back pack better and sit better on the chest.
